Karate is a martial art focusing not only on physical techniques, but also on mental discipline and development. The word karate is a combinations of two Japanese characters: "kara", meaning empty, and "te", meaning hand; thus, "karate" means "empty hand." Karate is a way of life that goes well beyond the self-defense applications.
The Club’s instructors are teaching young people good sportsmanship, team cooperation, and discipline while striving towards a standard of excellence.
When the Mississauga Shotokan Karate Club first opened its doors in Streetsville, 30 students enrolled. Today, student membership include students of all ages. Moreover, the club continues its tradition of bringing the sport of karate to the forefront in our community.
Global Karate Do, Mississauga Shotokan Karate Club has many students who were provincial medalists, national medalists, Pan-American medalists and world medalists.
